Lots and lots and lots to do today, and not enough time to do it in. We had a good bit of last minute things to take care of around the house and a few items to pick up before the flight. The last two prescriptions had to be picked up, Abigail's bag had to be packed, snacks had to be rounded up, and Abigail had to go to class for the day.

The day began too early for Victoria and me. We found ourselves awake at around 4:00 this morning and decided to begin working on the things around the house that needed to be completed. All the bills were caught up, the living areas and our bedroom were straightened, and some of the smaller, fragile items were loaded into our bags. Then we needed to wake Abigail in time to get her ready for kindergarten.

She woke up smiling and singing about how we were going to go get Hannah today after school. That little moment of happiness was a sign of how Abigail would handle the travel throughout the trip to China. More on that later. We dropped her off at school and then started on our list of errands that needed to be done. The first thing on the list was to go to the new Waffle House for breakfast. Since it had been built after the new smoking laws had been passed in Gwinnett County, it is a pleasure to eat there. We decided to have one last traditional American breakfast before leaving the country. While we were there we noticed a man having breakfast with an Asian child. We stopped by his table as we were leaving and asked him if his child was adopted, explaining our interest because of our adoption. As soon as he heard that we were adopting he became very talkative, letting us know that his daughter was from Hunan. She was an extremely active and gregarious child! Everyone was her friend. We spoke to him for close to half an hour. He was very excited to share lots of tips for our travels. We thought it was pretty cool that God made our paths cross. After having a very pleasant breakfast we continued working down the list if items and thankfully managed to get back home just before noon.

I had hoped that we would be able to have some time to rest, but that wasn't meant to be. The additional prescriptions needed to be packed, the bags needed to be weighed, for carry on limits, and then we had to make sure the bags were still within the size limits for carry on luggage. The bags were close to the limits on size, but thankfully were well below the weight limit. By the time the bags were loaded and placed by the door to be picked up, it was almost time for our good friend Scott to pick us up and take us to MARTA for the trip to the airport.

The trip to Hartsfield wasn't bad, but the time spent to find out where we needed to get boarding passes, get checked in and travel to the concourse was maddening. We arrived in plenty of time for normal flight processing, but for some reason the procedures took an unusually long time today. We made it thorough all of the different stations and got to our gate in time, but we missed out on being able to have a good dinner before boarding since we only had about 20 minutes before we left for LAX.

I will close here for this day's entry since the next entry will cover two days due to the time change.
