Decision |
||
Our choice to adopt a child was fixed in our minds even before we were married. We had both done volunteer work for HOPE for Children before we had even met, and the need for adoptive parents was obvious to both of us. Our initial thoughts were to have two biological children, then adopt a third child once our children were old enough to help us with the baby. However, after we had Abigail and began to realize how much older we would be if we waited for our second child, we began to think that it would be wiser to go ahead and start the adoption process. HOPE for Children hosted a meeting open to any families who were interested in adoption. We attended the meeting and took home a good bit of reading material. For some reason we were both drawn to the thought of adopting from China. Because we wanted to adopt a girl, some part of the decision may have been the number of girls in the orphanages in that country. Whatever the reason, though, we had made up our minds that we would look more seriously into the requirements necessary to adopt from China. |
